We have some very exciting news! Due to weather and scheduling changes, we have been moved to the top of the list to have the tennis court resurfaced. The resurfacing company will be arriving this afternoon to remove the nets from the court and they will be starting the resurfacing first thing Tuesday morning, March 28th. The project should be completed by Friday, March 31st. The courts are tentatively scheduled to reopen Saturday, April 1st.
Our apologies for the short notice, however we would like to take advantage of this opportunity while the weather is nice. Otherwise, it would delay the project for another few weeks.
Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation!

July 30, 2016 Bikeway Presentation
The Brunswick County Greenway, Bikeway, & Blueway Project Presentation, that was presented at the July 30th, 2016 Community Meeting, is available for viewing. The presentation is listed on the South Harbour Master POA link, under the downloads tab.
July 30, 2016 Meeting
Starting at 9:30 am — 2 Presentations will precede Saturday’s Community Meeting
As noted in the Newsletter, there is an informal meeting of Owners with the Board and Management for the discussion of matters of interest to SHV Owners. Two presentations have been lined up and therefore the meeting will start at 9:30am in order to provide enough time!
Wildlife Safety Information: At 9:30am, Angela Powell, Representative from Brunswick County Animal Control, will give a presentation on wildlife safety. This is a chance to learn about the various animals (alligators, raccoons, snakes, etc.) that one might come into contact with in & around South Harbour.
Proposed Bike Path Information: At 10am, Kirstie Dixon, Planning Manager for Brunswick County will be providing an overview of the Greenway/Blueway Plan for Brunswick County.
P/G&M Committee Members have been pushing the County for an “off-the road” path that would run along Fish Factory Rd., from the Bill Smith Park (and include the path already constructed at Bill Smith Park), through the property owned by the Brunswick County water utility, through the Brunswick County Wildlife Boat ramp area, and connect with the Brunswick County Park.
The County’s Greenway Plan involves much of the surrounding area, and possibly Fish Factory Rd. Please come and learn how your Community might be able to push forward a project that could be a great asset for South Harbour!
Following the Bike Path & Wildlife Presentations, there will be an open forum opportunity to ask questions of the Board, make suggestions and raise any topics concerning the SHV Community. This meeting was added on a Saturday in an attempt to address the concern that owners who are working or only in SHV part-time often are unable to attend the typical Friday Board Meetings. Please note that the meeting will end at 12 noon (at the latest) based on a prior commitment on the part of LRES & Board Members.
The golf course is Town property and only golfing parties are allowed on the course. Damage to the golf course has a direct impact on Town expense and, as residents of Oak Island, our taxes. If you witness misuse of the course, please call the police.
There have been several complaints received regarding unauthorized use and abuse of the course. The Town has recently devoted significant funds towards improving the course. Please help all of us to maintain the course by not allowing non-golfing activities to occur on the course. We ask that all owners and residents share this with their guests!
SHMPOA Board Meeting Protocol:
- Introductions of Board & All Guests will be made around the room.
- Protocol is explained to all at start of Meeting.
- Only Master BOD & Management are to sit at meeting table.
- Member BOD must request in advance to be on Agenda.
- Owners may speak during Member Presentations & Property Owner Comments – 5 minute limit (20 minute max).
- No comments after Guest/Owner sections of Agenda.
- Owners’ forum will be held after adjournment, but BOD that need to leave can be excused.
- Prior to meeting, Owners can submit comments/questions by phone, email or mail to Management.
- Board will consider 1 Saturday each year for Open Session between owners & BOD (likely in the Spring/Summer).
